From mineral silicon to organic silicon
After oxygen, silicon is the main component of the Earth's crust. In its mineral state (granite, sand, quartz, horsetail, nettle), it occurs as silica, which is very poorly soluble. It becomes organic when bound to a carbon atom: this is monomethylsilanetriol, or MMST.
This molecule was synthesised in 1957 by Norbert Duffaut, a chemist at the University of Bordeaux, then stabilised thanks to the work of Philippe Voisin. Géomer doses it at 1,200 mg per litre, the maximum stability threshold in aqueous solution: we are the only ones to guarantee a stable 1,200 mg/L in a complete holistic TCM range.
In our cosmetic products
Organic silicon is part of our creams, shampoos, Terral masks and gels. In cosmetics, it contributes to the suppleness and comfort of the skin, the shine and body of the hair, and the appearance of the nails.
Géomer also offers organic silicon as a food supplement. This framework is distinct from that of cosmetics: monomethylsilanetriol is authorised as a source of silicon for adults by Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/1344, within a limit of 10.40 mg of silicon per day.
