Rich pH Correcting Shampoo

(11 reviews)

Conditioning acid shampoo — Thick, dry & heavily oxidised coloured hair

The Rich pH Correcting Shampoo uses the same acidifying base as the classic pH Correcting Shampoo — pH 4.5, AHA fruit acids, Granny Smith apple extract — enriched with carrageenan and guar gum for a noticeably stronger conditioning effect. Designed for coloured, thick or very dry hair that needs nourishing while its pH is corrected. Developed using the ARK Quantique Process®.

  • Cuticle scales closed + hair nourished — AHA + carrageenan + guar gum in a single step
  • Shine & suppleness restored
  • Fire Element (TCM) — offsets the effects of solar and chemical oxidation

Who is it for? Coloured, permed, highlighted or bleached hair — especially thick, dry or heavily oxidised hair. For very fine or very porous hair, prefer the classic pH Correcting Shampoo.

Rich pH Correcting Shampoo

The same pH correction — with an added conditioning effect

The Rich pH Correcting Shampoo follows the same logic as the classic pH Correcting Shampoo — lowering the hair's pH towards its natural level of 4.5 to close the cuticle scales opened by oxidation. Its formula, enriched with carrageenan and guar gum, adds a conditioning action that nourishes and softens the hair fibre at the same time.

The result: coloured hair looks shinier, more supple and softer in a single step — without always needing a conditioner.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this formula is associated with the Fire Element — energy no. 2, which governs the Heart and the Small Intestine. Colouring and UV rays have the same oxidising effect on hair as excess sun — the Rich pH Correcting Shampoo offsets these effects by restoring the hair's natural acid balance.

What the Rich pH Correcting Shampoo does

Closes the cuticle scales — the fruit acids (malic, glycolic, lactic, citric acid) lower the pH towards 4.5. The scales close and the hair regains its protective structure.

Nourishes & conditions — carrageenan and guar gum provide a smoothing, conditioning effect not found in the classic version. Dry and coloured hair regains softness and manageability.

Preserves colour — keeping an acidic pH helps slow colour oxidation and prolong its vibrancy.

Simplifies your routine — on thick or normal coloured hair, its conditioning effect can replace a conditioner.

Evidence & Key ingredients

Granny Smith Apple Extract + AHA

Malic acid · Glycolic acid · Lactic acid · Citric acid. An acidifying synergy that brings the hair's pH back to 4.5 — the natural threshold of healthy hair. Granny Smith apple extract is the formula's main source of natural malic acid.

Carrageenan + Guar Gum

The two distinctive actives of the Rich version — not found in the classic pH Correcting Shampoo. Carrageenan forms a protective film on the hair fibre. Guar gum brings suppleness and makes detangling easier. Together, they give this version its characteristic conditioning effect.

Gentle cleansing agents

Coco-sulfate · Decyl glucoside · Cocamidopropyl betaine. A gentle cleansing base formulated to respect hair weakened by chemical treatments — without weighing down the formula despite its conditioning enrichment.

Expert advice

Application routine:

  • Use like a conventional shampoo — on wet hair
  • A hazelnut-sized amount is enough — avoid creating too much lather
  • Leave on for 4 minutes (2 minutes longer than the classic pH Correcting Shampoo)
  • Rinse thoroughly

On thick or normal coloured hair, the Hair Balm is not always necessary as a conditioner — the conditioning effect of the Rich version may be enough. On very fine or very porous hair: prefer the classic pH Correcting Shampoo or use this product in a smaller amount.

Made-to-measure customisation: Add a few drops of Amplitude N°2 to your dose of shampoo to enhance the action on hair oxidised by heat or sun — same Fire Element, a natural synergy.

Frequently asked questions

Both share the same acidifying base at pH 4.5 and the same fruit acids. The Rich version adds carrageenan and guar gum — giving it a noticeably stronger conditioning effect. The classic pH Correcting Shampoo is lighter — suited to fine or very porous hair. The Rich pH Correcting Shampoo is recommended for thick, dry or heavily coloured hair that needs nourishing while its pH is corrected.

Not always — on thick or normal coloured hair, its conditioning effect can replace a conditioner. On long or very dry hair, the Baume Capillaire is still recommended for optimal detangling without weighing hair down.

Yes — that is even its main use. Used from the day after colouring, it stabilises the pH, closes the cuticle scales and preserves colour vibrancy. Used regularly between two colourings, it maintains the natural acid balance of coloured hair.
