Stripping is not enough
Many anti-dandruff shampoos remove visible flakes with strong agents. The irritated scalp then produces more sebum to protect itself, and the dandruff comes back. It is like cleaning the floor without turning off the leaking tap.
The TCM view
In TCM, dandruff is linked to the Earth Element (spleen, stomach, pancreas): the body eliminates toxins through the scalp. Rather than stripping it, Géomer suggests purifying it gently and also looking at diet.
5 mistakes to avoid
- Washing too often: space out your washes;
- Using water that is too hot: prefer lukewarm water and a cool final rinse;
- Scratching: massage gently instead;
- Constantly changing shampoo: give the scalp time to rebalance;
- Forgetting diet and stress.
