pH Correcting Shampoo

Acidic shampoo — Coloured, permed & sun-oxidised hair

The pH Correcting Shampoo is formulated at pH 4.5 — the natural pH of healthy hair. Its fruit acids (AHA) close the scales opened by chemical or sun oxidation, restoring shine, suppleness and smoothness to damaged hair. Developed according to the ARK Quantique Process®.

  • Scales closed — AHA fruit acids + Granny Smith apple extract
  • Shine & suppleness — visibly shinier hair
  • Fire Element (TCM) — offsets the effects of sun and chemical oxidation

Who is it for? Coloured, permed or bleached hair. Hair oxidised by the sun after summer. Anyone whose hair lacks shine and suppleness after chemical or UV aggression.

pH Correcting Shampoo

Understanding hair oxidation according to TCM

Colouring, a perm, prolonged sun exposure — all of these have the same effect on hair: they open the cuticle scales and raise the hair's pH above its natural level. Oxidised hair becomes dull, brittle, difficult to detangle and loses its natural shine.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this phenomenon is linked to the Fire Element — energy no. 2, which governs the Heart and the Small Intestine. Summer and UV rays are the maximum expression of the Fire Element. Just as excess sun inflames and oxidises, colourings have the same oxidising effect on hair as UV rays.

The pH Correcting Shampoo works both chemically and energetically: its fruit acids lower the hair's pH towards its natural level (4.5) and close the scales opened by oxidation.

What the pH Correcting Shampoo does

Closes the hair scales — fruit acids (malic, glycolic, lactic, citric acid) lower the hair's pH towards its natural level of 4.5. The scales close and the hair regains its protective structure.

Shine and suppleness — hair with closed cuticles reflects light better and glides naturally. Hair looks visibly shinier.

Protects colour — by maintaining an acidic pH, it helps colour last longer after colouring.

Tailor-made — its base can be personalised with a Géomer Amplitude according to your needs of the moment.

Evidence & Key ingredients

Granny Smith apple extract

The Granny Smith apple is one of the most concentrated natural sources of malic acid — a naturally acidifying and restructuring AHA. It provides the pH-correcting action while contributing to the radiance and shine of the hair fibre.

AHA fruit acids

Malic acid · Glycolic acid · Lactic acid · Citric acid. A synergy of alpha-hydroxy acids that lower the hair's pH towards 4.5 — the natural threshold of healthy hair. Each AHA helps close the scales and smooth the surface of the cuticle.

Gentle cleansing agents

Coco-sulfate · Decyl glucoside · Cocamidopropyl betaine. A gentle cleansing formula compatible with hair weakened by colouring or perms — without harming a hair fibre already put to the test by chemical processes.

Expert advice

Application protocol:

  • Use like a regular shampoo — on wet hair
  • A hazelnut-sized amount is enough — avoid creating too much lather
  • Leave on for 2 minutes
  • Rinse thoroughly

Pair with the Hair Balm as a detangling conditioner — it does not weigh down fine to very fine hair.

Tailor-made personalisation: Add a few drops of Amplitude N°2 to your dose of shampoo to enhance the refreshing and decongesting action on hair and scalps over-exposed to heat — same Fire Element, natural synergy.

Frequently asked questions

The natural pH of healthy hair is slightly acidic — about 4.5. Colouring, a perm or sun exposure raises this pH towards more alkaline values, which opens the cuticle scales. Hair with open scales loses its shine, becomes rough and breaks more easily. The pH Correcting Shampoo brings the pH back to its natural level — the scales close and the hair regains its structure.

Yes — that is in fact its main use. It can be used from the day after colouring to stabilise the pH and help the colour last. With regular use, it maintains the acidic balance needed for the shine and suppleness of coloured hair.

Yes — any hair exposed to sun, heat or chemical processes (straightening, bleaching) benefits from a pH correcting shampoo. It is particularly recommended after summer for people exposed to UV rays, even without colouring.
