Understanding dull, toneless skin according to TCM

Skin that lacks radiance, sags, whose wrinkles set in and whose complexion dulls is not simply "tired" skin — it is skin whose vital energy has become depleted. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this imbalance is linked to the Water Element — energy no. 5, which governs the Kidneys and the Bladder. The Kidneys are considered the seat of vital energy (Jing) — the body's fundamental reserve of vitality. A weakened Water Element shows as skin lacking tone, deepening wrinkles, loss of hair density and sometimes chronic states of stress or fear.

Key ingredients

Marine silts (Maris Limus)

Marine sediments concentrated in minerals and trace elements. What makes them special: they create a gentle local blood flow that tones and re-energises dull tissues. It is the signature ingredient of Terral Gris — absent from all the other Terrals in the range.

Organic silicon

Present as monomethylsilanetriol, it helps preserve the firmness and elasticity of the skin, stimulates scalp microcirculation and enhances the remineralisation of the stimulated tissues.

Menthol + 3 essential oils

Menthol · Thyme · Rosemary · Peppermint. Menthol triggers the initial cooling effect characteristic of Terral Gris. Thyme and rosemary enhance the toning effect and stimulate skin microcirculation. Together they act on the Kidney and Bladder meridians.

Application protocol:

Apply with a brush (8 mm face / 16 mm scalp) to uncleansed skin
Apply a layer about 1 mm thick
Do not let it dry completely — top up with a little product if necessary
Rinse with lukewarm or cold water, then cleanse the skin

It is a sign that the mask is activating microcirculation and re-energising the tissues in depth. This effect is normal, expected and beneficial — it reflects precisely the toning action sought.

Why is it not recommended for scalps that perspire?

Terral Gris stimulates circulation and tissue activity — a scalp that already perspires heavily would see this tendency amplified. In this case, Terral Rouge (Fire Element, refreshing action that regulates perspiration) is the more suitable choice.

What is the difference between using Terral Gris alone and with Amplitude N°5?

On its own, Terral Gris tones, stimulates and drains in depth. With Amplitude N°5, you personalise the mask according to your current Water energy imbalance — the Amplitude enhances the warming and toning action on the Kidney and Bladder meridians.
