Understanding dry, porous hair according to TCM

Curly, frizzy or very dry hair is not simply "hard to style" — it is hair whose cuticle is structurally more open, making it more vulnerable to loss of moisture and external aggressions. Without adequate nourishment, it becomes brittle, dull and difficult to detangle.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, hair dryness is linked to the Metal Element — energy no. 4, which governs the Lungs and the Large Intestine. In autumn, the loss of minerals and surface energy leads to a gradual drying of hair and skin. The Nourishing Shampoo directly compensates for this deficiency by providing, with every wash, the nourishing and restructuring ingredients this hair needs.

What the Nourishing Shampoo does

Nourishes deeply — pure shea butter penetrates the hair fibre and provides intense nourishment for the driest, most dehydrated hair.

Restructures the fibre — hydrolysed wheat proteins (Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein) form a protective film on the cuticle, fill porous areas and increase resistance to breakage.

Protects & softens — chestnut extract (Castanea Sativa) provides a natural astringent action that tightens the scales and contributes to the shine and suppleness of the hair.

Makes detangling easier — its nourishing texture makes curly and frizzy hair easier to detangle, reducing breakage when combing.

Tailor-made — its base can be personalised with a Géomer Amplitude according to your needs of the moment.

Key ingredients

Pure shea butter

The benchmark natural emollient for very dry hair. Shea penetrates the hair fibre to nourish it from within, brings suppleness and shine, and protects against external aggressions. Particularly effective on curly, frizzy and coily hair.

Hydrolysed wheat proteins

A film-forming hair ingredient — hydrolysed proteins settle on the cuticle and fill porous and damaged areas. They structurally strengthen the hair fibre and reduce breakage. A benchmark ingredient for chemically processed or naturally porous hair.

Chestnut extract (Castanea Sativa)

A natural astringent ingredient from chestnut bark. Helps tighten the cuticle scales and smooth the hair surface — for greater shine and better resistance to frizz. Also found in Silicium Organique Vitalis for its antioxidant properties.

Application protocol:

  • Apply a hazelnut-sized amount to wet or damp hair
  • Spread with your fingertips over all of the hair
  • Leave on for 4 minutes
  • Rinse thoroughly

The Hair Balm can be used as a leave-in detangling conditioner on very thick, very dry or coily hair — it does not weigh hair down.

Yes — hydrolysed wheat proteins are particularly effective on hair whose cuticle has been altered by colouring, a perm or straightening. They fill the porous areas created by chemical processes and increase resistance to breakage. For coloured hair, pair it with the pH Correcting Shampoo to correct the pH after each colouring.

On thick, very dry curly or coily hair, the Hair Balm is recommended as a leave-in conditioner. On normal or slightly dry curly hair, the shampoo can be used on its own — its nourishing effect may be enough for everyday use.

Yes — but it is particularly recommended in autumn and winter, the season of the Metal Element, when hair dryness is most marked. Structurally dry or curly hair benefits from it all year round.
