Understanding excess sebum according to TCM

Removing oil with conventional degreasing products solves nothing — the skin and scalp immediately recreate a new protective film. It is a vicious circle. The real solution is to stabilise sebum production at its source.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, excess sebum is linked to the Wood Element — energy no. 1, which governs the Liver and the Gallbladder. In spring, these organs are particularly active in helping the body emerge from winter — this activation shows on the skin as overproduction of sebum.

Laboratoire Géomer has selected essential oils recognised for their virtues on the Liver and Gallbladder. The result when applied to the skin: the sebaceous glands regulate themselves without being harmed — the skin stays protected, neither oily nor dry.

Its two uses

Use 1 — Neat application to the skin Amplitude N°1 is applied directly to the targeted areas — face, scalp, body areas concerned. Its 20% concentration is the ideal dose, well tolerated by the skin.

Use 2 — Customising Géomer products Add a few drops to your made-to-measure adaptable Géomer product to turn it into a treatment specific to oily skin or an oily scalp. This is the exclusive principle of Laboratoire Géomer — a treatment adapted to your energy imbalance of the moment.

Key ingredients

Sage + Rosemary

Sage stabilises the sebaceous glands and acts directly on the Liver meridian. Rosemary enhances the draining action and tones skin tissue that overproduces.

Scots Pine + Cypress + Juniper berries

A natural astringent trio that tightens enlarged pores and helps normalise the activity of the sebaceous glands. Acts on the Gallbladder meridians according to the TCM logic of the Wood Element.

Mitcham Mint

Provides a fresh sensation on application. Complements the regulating action of the other essential oils on oily scalps.

Frequently asked questions

It seems counter-intuitive, but that is precisely the Géomer approach. Conventional degreasing products remove sebum from the surface — the skin reacts by producing more to protect itself. Amplitude N°1 does not remove sebum; it regulates the glands that produce it. The skin finds its natural balance — neither oily nor dry.

It is particularly recommended in spring — the season of the Wood Element, when sebaceous imbalance is most common. But if your skin is structurally oily all year round, it can be used continuously as needed, adapting how often you apply it.

Amplitude N°1 can be added to all Géomer products marked "made-to-measure adaptable" — Terrals, adaptable shampoos, body care. It does not mix with non-adaptable finished products such as gels or food supplements.
